Odd side effect from elderberry gummies? Vivid dreams and bright urine!
Hey all, been taking elderberry gummies for about a week now (the ones with zinc and vitamin C). Noticed two weird things: my dreams are SUPER vivid and intense, and my pee is like bright yellow-green! No pain or anything, just odd. Anyone else experience this? Is it normal? I'm not worried, just curious.
Oh, that bright pee is likely just the B vitamins, especially riboflavin. It's harmless, just your body flushing out excess. As for vivid dreams, I've heard of that with elderberry - it can stimulate the immune system and maybe affect sleep patterns. I've been taking elderberry for years and sometimes get vivid dreams, but it's usually when I take it at night. Maybe try taking it in the morning?
I've had the vivid dreams too! I actually kind of enjoy them haha. But the bright urine freaked me out at first. I read it's from the vitamin C and B12. I also started meditating to help with the dream intensity - it makes me feel more grounded. BTW, what brand are you using? Just curious.

Thanks everyone! Good to know I'm not alone. The gummies are from Nature's Way, and they do have a blend of black elderberry, zinc, vitamin C, and also propolis? I don't think they have valerian. I'll try taking them in the morning and see if the dreams calm down. The bright urine is a relief - I was starting to think I was drinking too much kale juice lol. Appreciate the responses!
