Hey everyone! I'm looking to buy a couple of packs of fiber gummies as gifts. One for my dad (65, needs digestive help) and one for my buddy who's super into fitness and wants to up his fiber intake. Any recs? I've seen some with chicory root inulin and others with wheat dextrin – which is better for each? Also, are these things even legit or just expensive candy?

Good question! For your dad, chicory root inulin is great for gentle regularity, but start low and slow to avoid gas. For your fitness buddy, wheat dextrin (like Benefiber) is more neutral and dissolves well in water. Both are legit if from reputable brands – check for third-party testing. Also, fiber gummies can have 3-5g per serving, which is decent. Just don't exceed recommended dose!

As a biohacker, I'd say ditch the gummies and go for a pure psyllium husk or a cellulose-based fiber like Vitafusion's fiber well gummies (they use pectin). But if you must get gummies, look for prebiotic fibers like acacia gum – less bloat. For your fit friend, check out Olly's 'Beat the Bloat' (has fiber and probiotics). For dad, Nature's Way has a good gummy with chicory root. Pro tip: pair with a digestive enzyme for maximum benefit.

Honestly, most “fiber” gummies are just sugar and gelatin with a sprinkle of chicory root. You'd be better off giving them a bag of flax seeds or some psyllium capsules. But if you're set on gummies, my wife likes the SmartSweets fiber gummies – they're sweetened with stevia and have 12g of fiber per serving. Just don't expect miracles; fiber from real food is always better.

Thanks for the tips! I think I'll get my dad the Nature's Way chicory root ones and maybe the Olly for my buddy. I'll also throw in some psyllium capsules as a joke gift for my skeptic friend Vince ;) Appreciate all the input!
