Costco Fiber Gummies on Sale - Too Good to Be True?
So I was at Costco today and saw a huge pallet of Fiber Gummies (the brand I usually get from Whole Foods) marked down to like $9.99 for a bottle of 120. That's literally half the price I pay elsewhere. Is this a steal or is there a catch? Do they lower the quality for big box stores? I'm tempted to stock up but I'm a bit wary.
Ha, I've seen the same thing at my local Costco! I grabbed a bottle on a whim and honestly they taste the same as the ones I get at GNC. I think it's just a bulk discount thing, not lower quality. I'd say you're good to stock up. My only advice: check the expiration date. Sometimes they're clearing out stock that's close to expiring, so make sure you can eat them in time.
I agree with Sid. Fiber gummies are not something that gets cheapened for big box stores, they're all made in the same factories usually. But I gotta ask, are these the ones with sugar alcohols? I'm keto and I know some brands use maltitol which can spike blood sugar. Just check the label. If they use erythritol or something, you're golden. Also, if the deal is that good, it's probably just a promotional thing to get you in the door. I'd buy a couple.
From a fitness perspective, fiber is fiber. The quality difference between brands is minimal, it's all about the type of fiber and the sugar content. I've analyzed the labels of the Costco ones vs the boutique brands, and the active ingredients are the same. The price cut is just because they buy in massive bulk. If you're getting 120 gummies for $10, that's a steal. Just don't overdo it at first, fiber can cause bloating if you're not used to it. Start with one a day.
