Help! My son thinks fiber gummies are candy and eats them like M&Ms
So I bought these fiber gummies for my 8-year-old because he gets constipated easily. I told him they're like medicine, not candy. But yesterday I found him with the bottle, munching them like M&Ms while watching cartoons. He ate like 6! I panicked and called poison control (they said he was fine, just might have some gas). Anyone else deal with this? How do you keep kids from treating supplements as candy??
OMG this is exactly why I don't buy gummy vitamins for my kids. They're basically candy with a bit of vitamins. My neighbor's kid ate a whole bottle of melatonin gummies once and ended up in the ER. Scary stuff. I use chewable tablets instead. No fun shapes or colors. Maybe try that?
lol sorry but that's kinda funny. Glad he's okay. I just lock up my supplements in a cabinet with a child lock. My girlfriend's kid once ate my fiber gummies too, same thing. Also, some brands taste super sweet, I get it. But yeah, treat them like any medicine - out of reach.
Fiber gummies are a scam anyway. They have like 2g fiber per serving and 5g sugar. Just give him broccoli or psyllium husk powder mixed in smoothies. But to answer your question: I keep all supplements in a locked drawer. Also, my wife once tried my keto gummies 'as a treat' and I was like babe those are for fat adaptation not dessert. lol
