My fiber gummies turned into a rock – still safe?

Hey everyone, I bought a new bottle of fiber gummies about two months ago. I opened it today and they're super hard, almost like candy rocks, and some have white spots on them (sugar bloom?). Also a few are stuck together. Are they still safe to eat? I don't want to waste them but also don't want to get sick.

Dude, throw them out. Gummies change texture because they lost moisture or the ingredients separated. It's probably safe but why risk it? Fiber is cheap. Get a fresh bottle and store them in a cool dry place. I've had that happen and I just toss them.

Actually, it's likely just sugar crystallization (bloom) and moisture loss. They are probably safe to eat as long as they don't smell off or have mold. The white spots are just sugar. The hardness means they're a bit stale. You can microwave them for 5-10 seconds to soften, but don't overdo it. But honestly, if the texture bugs you, get new ones. I've eaten 'em like that before with no issues.

Thanks guys! I think I'll toss them just to be safe. The white spots looked kinda sus even if it's just sugar. Also, any tips on storing them so this doesn't happen again? I keep them in the bathroom cabinet but maybe that's too humid?

Yeah, bathroom is humid. Keep 'em in a pantry or cupboard away from heat and moisture. Some people even refrigerate them but that can make them hard too. Room temp in a dark place works best. Also make sure the lid is tight.
