My kid thinks fiber gummies are candy—help!

So I bought those berry-flavored fiber gummies for my 7yo because the doc said she needs more fiber. BIG mistake. She keeps sneaking them like candy. Today I caught her trying to trade them for a toy at school. How do I get her to stop treating them like treats? Or is it fine if she eats more than the serving size?

Oh man, I feel you! My wife does the same thing with my magnesium gummies. The problem is they ARE basically candy with some fiber added. I'd say lock them up and treat them like medicine. Kids can get tummy aches or worse from too much fiber (trust me, I learned the hard way). Also, try offering real fiber sources like berries or chia pudding—my holistic practice always recommends whole foods first!

Totally agree with Pete. Those gummies are just sugar bombs half the time. I'm vegan and I only use fiber from whole plant sources. But I get it, kids can be picky. Maybe mix the gummies into a smoothie? That way she gets the fiber without the "candy" association. And yes, definitely watch the dosage—too much fiber can cause bloating and diarrhea.

Haha, my husband does the same thing with my collagen gummies! He says they taste like gummy bears. I store them in a high cabinet now. For your daughter, maybe set a rule: one gummy after dinner like a "vitamin" not a treat. Or switch to a different form like chewable tablets if she won't eat them. But honestly, the texture of gummies is so candy-like, it's a battle. Good luck!
