New study on Vitamin C in gummies - Legit or just hype?
Hey everyone! Just came across this study (PMID: 34567890) about vitamin C absorption from gummy supplements vs tablets. It claims that gummies are actually better absorbed because of the chewing process? Seems fishy to me. What do you guys think? Is it legit or just sponsored by Big Gummy? 😅
Hmm, I'm a bit skeptical too. I mean, I love my GOLI gummies, but that sounds like a stretch. Vitamin C is vitamin C, right? Maybe the study is funded by a gummy company. Did they compare it to chewable tablets? Chewing does break it down, but I doubt it makes that much difference.
I've read something similar actually! Some studies suggest that chewing can increase absorption because the enzymes in saliva start breaking it down. But it's not a huge difference. Also, most vitamin C is absorbed in the intestines anyway. I'd take it with a grain of salt, but if it helps you take your vitamins, that's what matters.
As a broke student, I just want the cheapest effective option. Gummies are more expensive per mg, I think. But if this study is legit, maybe they're worth it? Anyone know if the GOLI gummies have actual vitamin C? I thought they were just multivitamins.
