Hey everyone, just had to vent. I was at the store today looking for vitamins for my 6-year-old and was shocked at the sugar in those gummy vitamins! Like 3-4g per serving? That's basically candy with a vitamin label slapped on. What happened to just taking a pill? I get it's easier with kids, but are we teaching them that supplements should taste like dessert? As a runner, I'm all about clean fuel - this feels like the opposite. Anyone else bothered by this?

Totally agree Wendy. I've been minimalist with supplements for years - if you eat whole foods, you don't need most of this stuff anyway. But my sister gives her kids gummies and they're basically begging for them like treats. The 'candy-fication' is real. We're creating habits where kids expect everything healthy to be sweetened. I stick to teaching my kids to eat vegetables, not masking nutrients in sugar.

As someone on keto, sugar is literally poison to me. Those gummies often have more sugar than some actual candy! And don't get me started on the artificial colors and flavors. If you're giving your kids sugar first thing in the morning with their 'vitamins', you're setting them up for energy crashes and cravings. There are sugar-free options out there, or better yet - get nutrients from real food. Supplements should supplement, not replace.

Fitness pro here - I see both sides. Yes, the sugar content is concerning, especially with childhood obesity rates. But as a mom of a picky eater, I'll admit I've used gummies to ensure my kid gets her vitamins. The convenience factor is huge for busy parents. Maybe the solution is moderation? Or looking for brands with less sugar and natural ingredients. Some companies make gummies with fruit juice instead of added sugars. What brands have you all found that balance this better?
