My Kid Found My Gummy Vitamins... Now He Thinks They're Candy!
Okay, so I bought those gummy vitamins for my 5-year-old, you know, the ones shaped like bears? Well, this morning I caught him trying to sneak a handful because he said they're 'just like candy'. I had to hide them in the top cabinet! Any tips on how to get them to take them without a daily fight?
Ha! Classic. My kid did the same thing. I ended up using a lockbox for ALL supplements. But for him, I found that giving him ONE after breakfast works if I make it a 'special treat' routine. He looks forward to it now. Also, I tried the sugar-free ones, but he said they taste like chalk. So we stick with the regular ones, just locked up.
LOL, I'm a student on a budget and I've been taking those kids' gummies myself to save money on vitamins. I can't even count how many times I've almost eaten a whole bottle while studying. My advice: maybe try the ones that look less like candy? Like the ones shaped like fruits or something. And definitely keep them out of sight. I have to hide them from myself!
I'm all for sugar-free, but honestly, those kids' gummies are loaded with sugar. Here's a thought: what about trying the chewable tablets? They don't have that candy appeal. Might be easier to control. Also, you can make a rule: 'after you brush your teeth, you get your vitamin.' That way it's associated with hygiene, not dessert. Just a thought.
Thanks for the tips! Love the 'after brushing' idea, Nina. And Noah, I might have to get a lockbox, haha. Tom, you're not helping me convince my kid they're not candy when you're admitting to eating them yourself! 😂
