Hey everyone, just saw this article about Mylicon coming out with sleep gummies for kids. Sounds interesting but I'm a bit skeptical. What do you all think? Link: [article]

I've been a nurse for 30 years, and I always tell parents to be careful with melatonin for kids. It can mess with their natural sleep cycles. Mylicon is good for tummy issues, but combining that with a sleep aid? Sounds gimmicky. I'd rather see them focus on good sleep hygiene.

Honestly, I'm a minimalist. We don't give our kids any supplements unless a doctor says so. These gummies are probably full of sugar and artificial stuff. Just give them a warm bath and a story, works every time.

As a research librarian, I dug into this. The article says they contain melatonin and chamomile. There's some evidence that low-dose melatonin can help with occasional sleep issues, but long-term safety in kids isn't well studied. Also, the 'tummy-soothing' part is due to ginger and chamomile, which are gentle. But I'd still consult a pediatrician first. It's not a magic solution.
