Traveling with Kids Gummies: Melt, TSA, Storage?
Hey all! We're about to take our first big family vacation with our two kids (ages 3 and 6) and we always bring their gummy vitamins. But now I'm worried: will they melt in the car or on the plane? And what about TSA rules? We're going hiking too, so any storage tips would be great! I don't want a sticky mess in our bags.
Honestly, gummies are pretty sturdy. I've packed them in a carry-on for a flight to Florida in July, and they were fine. Just keep them in a cool, dry place - I put them in a ziplock bag just in case. TSA doesn't care about gummies, they're not a liquid or gel. For hiking, maybe keep them in a small cooler if it's super hot, but you're probably fine.
I second that! I take my vitamins everywhere. Pro tip: wrap the bottle in a towel or put it in a insulated lunch bag to keep the temperature stable. And if you're worried, just pop them in the fridge the night before - they'll stay firm for a while. Also, TSA won't blink an eye, but make sure they're in their original packaging to avoid any questions.
As a nature photographer, I've learned the hard way that heat is the enemy. If you're hiking in hot weather, carry them in a small cooler or even a thermos with a cold pack. But honestly, I've never had a issue with them melting - they just get a bit soft but still fine. And yes, TSA doesn't care, just don't bring a huge bag of loose gummies that might look suspicious haha.
Thanks everyone! I feel a lot better. I'll keep them in a ziplock and maybe stick them in the cooler on our hikes. Good tip about the original packaging. Now I can relax and enjoy the trip!
