Are liquid vitamins just candy in disguise?

I'm really frustrated with the trend of liquid vitamins tasting like candy. I get that they need to be palatable, but some brands have like 10g of sugar per serving. It's basically a soda in a dropper bottle. What's the point of taking a supplement if you're just loading up on sugar? Isn't there a way to make them effective without the sweetness?

Totally agree. I'm on paleo and I avoid added sugars like the plague. These liquid vitamins are a joke. If I wanted candy, I'd eat a fruit. The convenience factor doesn't justify the junk. I stick to capsules or powders with no sweeteners. Why can't they just use stevia or something?

I hear you both, but as an amateur chef, I think we need to consider the taste. If it's nasty, nobody will take it consistently. I've made my own tinctures before and they were bitter. But yes, too much sugar is bad. Some brands use xylitol or monk fruit, which are better. Maybe we should just DIY?

DIY sounds interesting, Steve! Do you have a recipe? I'm worried about getting the ratios right though. I want the vitamins to be effective, not just a placebo. And Dan, do you have any brand recs for sugar-free liquids? I've seen a few but I'm skeptical.

I've used Vimergy before, they're unsweetened. But they taste like dirt lol. I think the key is to just chug it fast. Honestly, I'd rather have a bad taste than sugar. Convenience is nice but not at the cost of health. Steve, if you have a recipe, I'd try it if I can control the ingredients.
