Gummies turned hard and sugary - safe to eat?
Hey everyone! So I've been loving these gummy vitamins, but I noticed they've gotten really hard and there's like a white sugary coating on them now. They used to be soft and chewy. Is this normal? Are they still safe to eat? I don't want to waste them but also don't wanna get sick. Anyone else experience this?
Honestly, that's just sugar bloom, it's totally safe. The texture change is from moisture loss or temp changes. I've had gummies do that and I still ate them, no problems. Just maybe store them in a cooler place or airtight container next time. But yeah, they're fine.
I agree with Ivy, it's just sugar bloom, happens all the time. But if they're hard, they might be less potent? Not sure, but they're definitely not toxic. I usually toss them if they're too hard to chew, but that's just my preference. Maybe try to revive them by putting a slice of bread in the jar overnight? That can soften them up.
Oh, I remember when gummies used to be like that all the time! It's normal, they just get old. As long as they don't smell weird or have mold, you're good. I've eaten gummies that were years past date, they just tasted a bit off but no issues. But if you're worried, you can always contact the company.
