Just saw this article about Liquid I.V. sponsoring the Peoples League tour. Seems like a smart move for hydration-focused events. But honestly, I'm more interested in the electrolyte content vs. sugar. Anyone know the actual science behind these packets?

It's a clever marketing play, but let's look at the numbers. Liquid I.V. uses a 3:1 glucose-to-electrolyte ratio for optimal absorption, which is backed by science. However, the sugar content (11g per serving) is a bit high for my taste. I'd rather make my own at home with electrolytes and stevia.

I'm all for simplicity. I just drink water and eat a banana if I'm active. These fancy drinks are overpriced and create waste with all those packets. But hey, if it gets people hydrated, I guess it's cool.

UrbanUma258, I feel you on the waste, but for long endurance events, having a precise electrolyte mix can prevent cramping. I use a DIY mix too, but I can see the appeal for convenience.
