My gummies changed color and texture – are they still safe to eat?
Hey everyone, I got a new bottle of vitamin gummies a couple weeks ago and they were fine at first. But now they've gotten really hard and kind of stuck together. The color also seems a bit darker than before. I'm worried they might have gone bad. Anyone know if they're still okay to take?
Oh no, that sounds off! I'm all about the taste and texture, and if they're hard and stuck together, they're probably not gonna be pleasant to chew. I'd toss them just to be safe. You don't want to risk a bad flavor or weird mouthfeel. Better to buy a fresh batch!
I'm a skeptical mom, so I totally get the worry. My kids love gummies, but if they start changing color or getting hard, I don't mess around. It could be sugar bloom or moisture loss, but I'd rather be safe. I'd call the company to ask, but honestly, I'd just trash them.
Hi there! I like to double-check these things. According to what I've read, changes in texture and color are often due to storage issues – heat or humidity can cause sugar crystallization (bloom) or hardening. But as for safety, they might still be okay to eat if they don't smell weird or show mold. However, the nutrient quality might have degraded. I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer to be sure.
Med student here! I'd advise against eating them if they've changed significantly. While many gummies have preservatives, once the texture and color shift, there's a higher chance of microbial growth or ingredient breakdown. It's not worth the risk of GI issues or reduced efficacy. I'd say get a new bottle and store it in a cool, dry place.
