My gummies turned into rocks - safe to eat?

Hey everyone, I've been taking these gummy vitamins for a couple months, but recently I noticed they've gotten super hard and some have a white coating on them. They also stick together like crazy. Are they still safe to eat? I don't want to waste money but I'm worried.

Oh honey, I'd toss those if I were you. That white coating is sugar bloom - it happens when moisture gets in. Hard gummies can be a sign they're degrading. Better safe than sorry, especially if you have kids around. I never risk it with expired or changed supplements.

Honestly, gummies that change texture like that are probably still safe as long as they don't smell funky or have mold. Vitamins degrade over time though. The white stuff is just sugar crystallizing. They might not be as effective. I'd probably eat them if they're not too old, but check the expiration date.

I've had this happen a few times, especially in humid weather. I still ate them and was fine, but I'm not a doctor. The bloom is just sugar. If they're hard, they might be less potent. For me, if it's within a month of opening, I'll still take them. After that, I toss them. I'd say trust your gut!

Yeah, but better to err on the side of caution. I know gummies are pricey but your health is more important. Maybe store them in a cooler, drier place next time. I keep mine in the fridge now - no issues!
