My gummy vitamins changed color and got sticky - are they still safe to take?
Hey everyone, I opened my bottle of gummy vitamins today and noticed they look different. Some have turned a darker color (they were bright orange, now kinda brownish) and they're all sticking together in a clump. A few feel harder than usual too. I keep them in my kitchen cabinet away from heat. Has this happened to anyone else? Are they still safe to eat or should I toss them?
Oh no! That sounds like sugar bloom or maybe they absorbed moisture. I've had gummies get sticky before when I left them in a humid bathroom (oops!). Taste-wise, they might be weird - sometimes they get grainy or lose flavor. I'd try one and see if they taste off. If they're gross, definitely don't eat them! Maybe store your next bottle with a silica gel packet?
Hmm, interesting. I've been meditating on mindfulness with consumption lately. Sometimes changes in products can be a sign to pause and reflect. Are they expired? If not, maybe it's just natural variation. But if your intuition says no, listen to it! I once ate questionable gummies and spent the whole afternoon worrying instead of focusing on my breath lol.
As a runner, I'm super careful about what I put in my body. Color change + texture change = potential degradation. Heat or moisture exposure can break down nutrients. Check the expiration date first. If they're within date, contact the manufacturer! I did that once when my protein gummies hardened, and they sent me a fresh bottle. Don't risk it before a long run!
Ugh, that's annoying! As someone with zero time, I'd be so frustrated. Quick take: if they're not expired and smell okay, they're probably safe but might not work as well. The sticking together thing happens with humidity. I keep mine in the fridge now - stops the clumping! But if you're unsure, just replace them. Not worth the stress during a busy week.
