Scored liquid vitamins at Costco - too good to be true?
So I was at Costco today and saw a huge bottle of liquid vitamin (the generic brand, not the fancy one) for like $12?! I normally pay $25 for the same amount at my local pharmacy. Is it a steal or is it lower quality? I don't want to cheap out on my health... anyone tried these?
Honestly, most vitamins are mostly hype. I've been taking liquid vitamins for years, and the generic ones from Costco are just as good as the expensive ones. The ingredients are basically the same, maybe just less fancy packaging. I'd say stock up! But hey, my grandma used to say 'you get what you pay for'... but she also drank wine from a box, so take that with a grain of salt.
I'm with Sam on this one, but I'd check the label for any added sugars or artificial stuff. As a paleo person, I avoid that. Some cheaper liquids have a lot of junk. But if it's clean, go for it. I actually buy the Kirkland brand (Costco) and it's been great. No weird aftertaste either. Just my two cents!
From a fitness perspective, if the vitamins are bioavailable and you're getting the right doses, the brand doesn't matter much. But watch out for the 'sale' – maybe it's expiring soon? Check the date. Also, if it's a liquid, make sure it's stored properly. I've had liquids that oxidize and lose potency. But if it's fresh, it's a solid deal. I'd buy it!
