Traveling with gummies - do they melt in luggage?
Hey all! Heading on a week-long trip that involves a plane, a road trip, and some hiking. I'm hoping to bring my gummy vitamins but I'm worried about them melting in my bag. Has anyone taken these on a plane? TSA rules? And any storage tips for keeping them from turning into a blob? Thanks!
Great question! I travel a lot for wellness retreats and I've never had an issue with gummies melting. They're pretty stable, but extreme heat can soften them. For plane trips, TSA doesn't have special rules for gummies - they're just like food. Keep them in original packaging or a labeled container to avoid extra questions. I usually pack them in a carry-on, not checked luggage, cause cargo bays can get cold and that might make them hard? Not sure. For storage, keep them in a cool, dry place. If you're hiking in hot weather, maybe put them in a small cooler or insulated bag. I've also used a ziplock and kept them close to my water bottle which is cool. Safe travels!
Hi OP, I'm a grandpa and I've taken my gummies on a few road trips. They do get soft if it's really hot, especially if left in a hot car. But they haven't melted completely. I suggest putting them in a small insulated lunch bag with an ice pack - that works for me. And for the plane, just put them in your carry-on to be safe. TSA didn't bat an eye when I had mine. But remember, the rules might change, so check the TSA website. Also, if you're hiking, they might get squished, so maybe keep them in a hard container. Have fun!
As a yoga instructor who travels for retreats, I've become a pro at this! Gummies are actually pretty resilient, but I always bring a small cooler bag for any supplement that might melt. Also, I wrap them in a dry towel for extra insulation. On the plane, I put them in a clear bag in my personal item - just like liquids, but gummies are fine. I've even taken them internationally. Another tip: if they get a bit soft, just pop them in the fridge for a bit and they'll firm up. Worst case, they might stick together but you can break them apart. Enjoy your trip - don't forget to take care of yourself!
