Gummies turning hard & white spots - safe?
Hey all, just got a new bottle of magnesium gummies (tropical flavor) and after about a week, they're getting hard and have white spots on them. Also a couple are stuck together. Is this normal? I'm paranoid about eating them now.
Sounds like sugar bloom. It happens when the gummies lose moisture or temp changes. They're probably fine, but if they're rock hard and stuck together, I'd just toss 'em. Better safe than sorry? I'm all about minimal waste but health first.
Yeah, that's just sugar crystallization and drying out. The magnesium is still there, but the texture might be off. If they're not moldy, they're safe. I've eaten gummies like that before, no issues. Just maybe store them in a cool dry place next time.
I had that happen with a different brand, and I contacted the company. They said it's from temperature fluctuations during shipping. They replaced my bottle for free. So might be worth reaching out. But to answer: I ate them and was fine. Haha.
Thanks all! Guess I'll risk it, but I'll keep the rest in the fridge. Noted on the storage tip.
