Hey guys! I tried making my own magnesium gummies at home using gelatin and magnesium powder from a capsule. I used a recipe I found online: 1/2 cup juice, 2 tbsp gelatin, and 1/4 tsp magnesium. I heated it up, poured into molds, and put in the fridge. But they came out all slimy and never set properly. What did I do wrong? Any tips?

Hey EcoEllen! The slimy texture might be from the magnesium powder - it can mess with the gelatin setting. Try using a liquid magnesium supplement instead, or dissolve the powder in a bit of water first. Also, make sure you're using enough gelatin. I usually go for 3 tbsp per cup of liquid. Agar works too if you want vegan, but it sets firmer.

I've had this issue before! Another tip - don't overheat the mixture. Gelatin breaks down if it gets too hot. Also, check the pH of your juice. Citric acids can make it not set well. I use apple juice with no added citric. Also, fridge time - at least 4 hours, not just 2. Hope that helps!

Thanks guys! I think I might have used too much magnesium and not enough gelatin. And I'll try apple juice next time. Do you think I could use sugar-free juice? I'm keto so I try to avoid sugar.

Definitely! I use monk fruit sweetened juice or just water with stevia. Just make sure the juice doesn't have too much citric. Also, you can add a little bit of coconut oil to help with texture. Let us know how it goes!
