THREAD: Magnesium Gummies - Are We Just Eating Candy?Started by XenonX

Just got these new magnesium gummies from the health store and I'm honestly disappointed. The label says 5g of added sugar per serving! Why are we turning essential supplements into candy? I track my macros religiously and this just messes with my optimization. There's gotta be better options for biohackers who want purity without the sugar crash.

Oh I completely agree XenonX! My grandkids love taking their vitamins now because they think they're getting treats, but I worry about what this teaches them. When I was young, we took our cod liver oil straight and learned that health isn't always sweet. These companies are just preying on our desire for convenience. Have you tried magnesium glycinate powder instead? Much cleaner.

Interesting debate! As someone who spends weeks in the wilderness photographing, I actually appreciate the gummies. Try carrying powdered supplements on a 10-day backpacking trip - they get everywhere! The sugar content isn't ideal, but for active folks like me, the convenience outweighs the downsides. Maybe there's a middle ground? Like low-sugar options?

Holly - good point about the powders, but they often have fillers too. I've switched to transdermal magnesium oil spray. Zero sugar, direct absorption. Jack - I get the convenience argument, but we're talking about magnesium deficiency here, not a snack. The 'candy-fication' makes people forget these are serious supplements. Anyone tried making their own gummies with stevia?

XenonX that spray sounds intriguing! My arthritis might benefit from that. And Jack dear, I understand about convenience for your trips, but maybe we could teach people to appreciate the bitter taste of health? Like how we learn to love black coffee or dark chocolate. These sweetened versions feel like giving up on teaching proper nutrition habits.
