THREAD: Magnesium Gummies: Healthy Supplement or Just Candy in Disguise?Started by MangoMia774

Hey everyone, I've been trying to up my magnesium intake for better sleep and muscle recovery, but I'm seriously side-eyeing these gummy supplements. Just checked the label on my bottle - 5g of added sugar per serving! That's like a teaspoon of sugar masquerading as health food. Are we really 'biohacking' or just giving ourselves a sugar rush? The candy-fication of supplements feels like a step backward for anyone trying to optimize their health. Thoughts?

MangoMia, I totally get your concern! As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors photographing nature, I appreciate purity in things. But honestly? I switched to magnesium gummies last year because I could never remember to take my pills. The sugar content isn't ideal, but for me, the convenience means I actually take it consistently. My cramps have improved so much! Sometimes perfect is the enemy of good, you know? Maybe there are lower-sugar options out there?

UGH this drives me nuts!!! I've been sugar-free for 3 years and the supplement industry is the WORST offender. They're marketing candy to adults and calling it wellness. MangoMia is right - 5g sugar is unacceptable! I found a brand that uses stevia instead, but it took forever to research. Why can't they make supplements that are both convenient AND pure? We shouldn't have to choose between health and... well, actual health!

YogurtYuri - I hear you on consistency! That's why I got the gummies in the first place too. But Olivia's point about alternatives is key. I just ordered some sugar-free magnesium powder to mix in water. Less convenient than gummies, but zero sugar. Maybe we need to pressure companies for better options? Like gummies with monk fruit or allulose instead of cane sugar?

Powder's a good idea Mia! Olivia, which stevia brand do you use? I'd be willing to try it. I guess my worry is that if they make them TOO 'healthy' tasting, people won't take them (looking at my husband who gags on pills lol). But you're both right - there's gotta be a middle ground. Maybe smaller companies are doing this better than the big brands?
