So I started taking these magnesium gummies (the ones with magnesium glycinate) like a week ago to help with sleep. And OMG my dreams have been insane. Like full on cinematic adventures, last night I dreamt I was a pirate captain sailing through a sea of pudding. Woke up feeling like I ran a marathon. Is this a thing? Does anyone else get this? I'm not complaining but it's... a lot. 😂

Med student here. Yeah, magnesium glycinate is known to sometimes cause vivid dreams. The glycine component is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, but it can also affect sleep architecture and REM density. Some people report more vivid dreams or even nightmares. It's usually harmless but if it's disrupting your sleep, maybe try a different form like magnesium citrate or oxide. Though oxide has poor absorption. Also, check your dose - too much can cause GI issues. But the dreams thing is real, you're not crazy.

OMG yes! I thought I was the only one. I take magnesium gummies for muscle recovery after workouts and I've been having the wildest dreams. Last week I dreamt I was in a musical and everyone was singing about kale. It was bizarre but kinda fun? I just roll with it. Doesn't seem to hurt anything. Though I did wake up with a cramp in my leg from dreaming I was running a race lol.

Interesting. I've been taking magnesium for meditation and relaxation, and I've noticed more vivid dreams too. I usually don't remember my dreams, but now I wake up with these detailed scenarios. I actually think it's kind of cool, like my brain is processing stuff more deeply. But I can see how it might be too much for some. Maybe try taking it earlier in the evening? I take mine about an hour before bed and it seems to help.

I'm skeptical. Are you sure it's the magnesium? Could be coincidental. I've been taking magnesium gummies for months and haven't noticed any change in dreams. Maybe it's just because you're paying more attention to your dreams now? Placebo effect is strong. But if it's harmless, whatever. Just don't come crying when you dream about giant gummy bears chasing you. 😏
