Hey all, I tried making my own melatonin gummies last night using gelatin and melatonin powder. Followed a recipe I found online but they came out rubbery and the melatonin didn't seem to mix in well - got these weird clumps. Anyone else try this? I'm worried about dosage accuracy too. Not sure if I should just stick to store-bought. Help!

Oh man, I've been there! Gelatin can be tricky. Did you bloom it first in cold water? That's key. Also, melatonin powder can clump if you don't dissolve it in a little warm water or glycerin before adding. I usually use agar for a vegan version but it sets differently. For dosage, I measure each gummy with a dropper to be safe. What recipe did you use?

Honestly, why bother? Store-bought melatonin gummies are cheap and regulated. You're risking uneven doses and potential contamination. Plus, melatonin isn't a vitamin - it's a hormone. Messing with it DIY is sketchy. Just buy a reputable brand.

If you want a vegan option, agar is great but you need to boil it properly. Also, make sure your melatonin powder is pure - some have fillers that mess with texture. I add a bit of fruit puree for flavor and use a silicone mold. But yeah, dosage is tricky. Maybe start with a lower amount and test one gummy?

Thanks for the tips! I didn't bloom the gelatin, so that's probably it. And I used a cheap melatonin powder from Amazon that might have fillers. I'll try again with agar and dissolve the melatonin first. @UrbanUma598 I get the safety concern, but I like controlling the ingredients. I'll be careful with dosing.
