Hey everyone! So I tried making my own melatonin gummies at home using gelatin and melatonin powder. I followed a recipe online but they came out all gooey and never set. Any tips on what I might be doing wrong? I used 2 tbsp gelatin for 1 cup of juice and let them sit in the fridge for 4 hours. Help!

I've seen my wife try making those things. She said the trick is to bloom the gelatin in cold water first, then heat it up gently. Maybe you didn't let it get hot enough? Also, you might need more gelatin. Try 3 tbsp next time. But honestly, store-bought is easier and safe.

Oh dear! Making your own is great for avoiding additives, but gelatin can be finicky. Have you tried using agar-agar instead? It's plant-based and sets firmer. Also, make sure the mixture reaches a simmer, but don't boil it. And let it cool a bit before pouring. Patience is key!

I'm with EcoEllen666, agar is better. But also check your melatonin powder - some have fillers that mess with the gelling. And make sure you're not adding too much acidic juice like lemon, it can break down gelatin. Maybe try apple juice.

As a busy guy, I just buy them. But for your troubleshooting, I read that you need to use a candy thermometer and get the mixture to 110°F (43°C) before pouring. Also, don't put them in the fridge too long - 1-2 hours is enough. Too long can cause condensation and make them sticky.
