Husband ate our kid's melatonin gummies... again!
I swear, I can't keep these things in the house. My husband keeps sneaking them because he says they're 'delicious' (they are, but still). Last night he ate a whole handful and passed out on the couch at 8pm. Anyone else deal with adults not realizing these aren't candy? Or kids fighting you because they want more?
Haha classic! I've been there with my own stash. But seriously, keep 'em locked up. Overdoing melatonin can mess with your natural production. Tell him to try sublingual microdosing or a magnesium glycinate stack for sleep. Way more bioavailable and no sugar crash. But yeah, the taste is hard to resist lol.
Honestly this is why I'm skeptical of gummy supplements. They're marketed like candy and people treat them that way. A few gummies won't hurt, but I've heard of ER visits from kids eating the whole bottle. Maybe try liquid or tablets if you can't trust the adults in the house? Just my two cents.
You could make your own! I do a batch with gelatin, tart cherry juice, and a measured dose of melatonin powder. That way you control the sugar and dose. Also, I add a tiny bit of cayenne to deter snacking. My kid calls them 'spicy sleep bears' and only eats the one I give her. lol
Thanks for the suggestions! The spicy ones sound genius, but I don't think my husband would go for that lol. Might have to hide them in a lockbox like a stash. And Frank, you're right - we've had a scare before with my son sneaking extra. Gonna be more careful now.
