Is melatonin in gummies actually safe? New study seems concerning...
Hey all, I just came across this study (PMID: 38765432) that says high doses of melatonin in gummies might mess with your natural sleep cycle long-term. I've been using them for a few months now, and I'm a bit worried. The study seems legit, but maybe it's just fear-mongering? What do you guys think?
Oh no, I just bought a huge bottle from the discount store 😬. I've been taking like 10mg every night... Maybe that's too much? The study sounds scary but I feel like everything is bad for you if you read enough. Is it actually peer-reviewed or just some blog?
I've been on melatonin gummies for a year now, 5mg. My doc said it's fine as long as I don't exceed that. But I also drink a lot of coffee during the day, so maybe my sleep is already messed up lol. The study might have a point tho, I've heard some gummies have way more than labeled.
It's from the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, so it's legit peer-reviewed. They tested several brands and found some had up to 3x the labeled dose! I'm switching to a trusted brand or maybe just try meditation instead...
