Melatonin Gummies on the Go: Melt, TSA, and Storage?
Hey all! I'm training for a marathon and my sleep schedule is all over the place, especially when I travel for races. I just started taking melatonin gummies and they work great, but I'm not sure how to handle them on my next flight. Will they melt in my carry-on? Any TSA issues? And what about hiking trips - how do you keep them from getting squished? Thanks!
I've carried melatonin gummies in my carry-on many times. TSA doesn't care, they're not liquids. Just keep them in the original packaging to avoid questions. For melting - I've never had them melt, but if you're worried, put them in a cooler with an ice pack if you're checking a bag. For hiking, I use a small pill container and wrap it in a bandana. Should be fine.
I'm on a strict paleo diet, so no gummies for me, but my husband uses them. We flew to Hawaii last summer, and they were fine in his backpack. He just kept them in the original jar. We also went on a road trip through the desert, and they got a bit soft but didn't melt completely. So I'd suggest keeping them out of direct sunlight. Maybe freeze them overnight before you travel? That might help.
As a caffeine addict, I need melatonin to sleep! Lol. I travel with them all the time. TSA is fine. For melting, I've had them stick together in a hot car, but they're still edible. Just break them apart. For hiking, I've used a small hard plastic case and it's worked. Also, pro tip: if you're flying, don't put them near your laptop or anything that generates heat in your bag. Keep them on top.
