Melatonin gummies on the go - melting and TSA?
Hey everyone! I'm heading to a music festival next week and I'm flying. I always take my melatonin gummies for sleep, but I'm worried they'll melt in my bag or with the heat. Also, any TSA issues with gummies? I don't want to be that person explaining why I have a bag of gummies. Tips?
Hey! I've traveled with melatonin gummies a bunch. They don't melt easily unless it's super hot, like in a car in summer. But for flying, put them in a small container in your carry-on - TSA doesn't care, as long as they're not in liquid form. I've never had an issue. Just keep them in a cool, dry place, maybe in a pill organizer or original packaging with label to avoid questions.
I once left mine in a hot car and they were a gooey mess, haha! So avoid that. For hiking, I put them in a small tin with a silica packet (the one from vitamin bottles). They survived a week in the Sierra. And TSA? They're like vitamins, so no problem. But keep them in the original jar if you're worried - it's legal, but labels help. Also, watch out for the 3-1-1 rule if they're liquid/gel, but gummies are solid, so nope.
I've got a paleo perspective - some brands have corn syrup or sugar, so check labels. But if you're fine with that, put them in a carry-on pouch. I've done road trips in the Southwest in summer - they didn't melt in my backpack, but it wasn't scorching. For extra safety, store them in a mini cooler with ice packs if you're planning a long hike. And TSA won't bat an eye - they see gummy vitamins all the time.
Thanks guys! I'll separate them into a small pill case and keep them in my day pack. I'm flying to a festival, and the weather is supposed to be warm. I'll maybe try the cooler idea for the drive from airport. Appreciate the tips!
