Melatonin gummies: too much sugar or just convenient?

Okay, I know melatonin gummies are a lifesaver for getting my kid to sleep, but I just looked at the label—6g of sugar per gummy! That's basically candy! Why are we turning supplements into junk food? Anyone else feel this way?

I feel you, OP! I've been researching this exact thing. The sugar isn't just empty calories—it can spike insulin and interfere with melatonin's natural rhythm. But I get it, kids won't take a pill. Some brands use xylitol or stevia, but then there's the whole artificial sweetener debate... It's a mess.

Honestly, I think gummies are a trap. I'm paleo and I avoid sugar like the plague. There are sublingual drops or capsules with zero sugar that work way better for me. My kid? He takes the drops mixed in a bit of yogurt. No tantrums. Maybe try that?

As a marathon runner, I try to keep my diet clean, but sometimes convenience wins. I use gummies on race week when I'm too tired to fuss. But I agree, the sugar is excessive. I wish they'd make a version with dextrose or something that absorbs faster without the junk.

Thanks for the suggestions! I might try the drops mixed in applesauce. But still, I feel like the industry is just preying on our desperation for sleep. It's frustrating. Maybe we should start a petition for low-sugar gummies? 😅
