New melatonin gummies for kids? Thoughts?
Help your child drift off comfortably with new tummy-soothing sleep gummies A recent news highlight points to an emerging trend in the children's sleep aid market: the introduction of melatonin gummies that also include ginger and probiotics for tummy comfort. As a parent, I'm curious if these are actually safe or just another marketing ploy. What do you all think?
I'm all for natural sleep aids, but melatonin is a hormone, not a vitamin. I'd be cautious with kids. The ginger and probiotics are nice additions, but I'd rather see chamomile or lavender in there. Melatonin can mess with their natural production long-term. Maybe try a calming routine first?
Melatonin gummies help me crash after late workouts, but for kids??? Idk. I've read that doses in gummies are often way off from what's on the label. Plus, some kids get nightmares from melatonin. I'd pass unless a doc says it's cool.
Working night shifts screwed my sleep schedule, so I use melatonin sometimes. But for children, I'm with the others. There's not enough long-term data. The tummy-soothing stuff sounds gimmicky. Stick to blackout curtains and white noise. That's what I use to trick my brain.
As a mom, I'm skeptical. Melatonin is overprescribed IMHO. My kid had sleep issues but we fixed it with diet and exercise. These gummies are just another way for companies to profit off worried parents. Plus, they're candy-like and kids might eat too many. Hard no from me.
