THREAD: New study on melatonin gummies - legit or just hype?Started by OP

Hey everyone! Just saw this article summarizing a recent study (PMID: 12345678) about melatonin gummies and sleep quality. The study claims they're super effective for occasional sleeplessness, but I'm skeptical - some of these studies are funded by supplement companies. What do you all think? Is this legit or biased marketing? Here's the link: [fakesciencejournal.com/melatonin-study](http://fakesciencejournal.com/melatonin-study)

OMG I've been using melatonin gummies for MONTHS and they've been a total game-changer for my nighttime routine! 💫 The study sounds promising, but honestly I trust my own experience more. I take the organic berry-flavored ones 30 mins before bed and my sleep has never been better. Plus they're so much tastier than pills! #selfcare #sleephacks

Interesting find, OP. I looked up the actual study - it was a randomized controlled trial with 200 participants over 8 weeks. The funding disclosure shows partial industry support from a gummy manufacturer, which raises potential bias concerns. However, the methodology seems solid: double-blind, placebo-controlled. The effect size was moderate but statistically significant. I'd say it's probably legit but take the 'super effective' claims with a grain of salt.

As a runner, sleep is CRUCIAL for recovery! I've tried melatonin gummies during heavy training cycles. They help me fall asleep faster after late workouts, but I don't think they improve sleep quality much. The study might be okay, but remember dosage matters - most gummies have 3-5mg which is actually pretty high for regular use. I alternate with magnesium instead to avoid building tolerance.

Thanks for the input everyone! @HealthHacker840 - appreciate you checking the actual study details. The industry funding does make me side-eye it a bit. @CrystalCathy good point about dosage - I've seen some with 10mg which seems excessive. Maybe I'll try a low-dose version and see how it goes. Anyone have brand recommendations that aren't loaded with sugar?
