THREAD: Saw this study about melatonin gummies - legit or just hype?Started by ZenZoe46

Hey all, just stumbled on this article summarizing a recent study (PMID: 12345678) about melatonin gummies and their effectiveness for sleep. The study claims they work well but I'm skeptical - some of these supplements feel like they're just sugar pills. As a night shift worker, I really need something that actually helps me sleep during the day. What do you guys think? Is this study legit or is it biased? Link: healthnews.com/melatonin-study-review

lol Zoe, I feel you on the skepticism! But tbh, I'm more concerned about the taste and ingredients than the science. I tried these 'Sleepy Bear' melatonin gummies last week and they tasted like straight-up chemicals with a hint of fake berry. If the study doesn't mention flavor profiles or sweeteners, I'm out. Anyone found brands that actually taste good AND work?

As a parent, I'm always checking studies before giving anything to my kids. That PMID looks familiar - I think it was funded by a supplement company, which raises red flags for bias. We use a low-dose melatonin gummy for our 8-year-old occasionally, but only from brands with third-party testing. Zoe, maybe look for studies from independent universities? Mike, we like the 'Nature's Zzz' brand - organic and no artificial flavors!

Thanks Mila! Good point about the funding - I didn't check that. Mike, I've tried a few brands and agree some taste awful. The 'DreamDrops' ones aren't bad, but now I'm wondering if they even work or if it's placebo. Maybe I'll search for those independent studies. Night shift life is rough without proper sleep aids!

Mila, thanks for the rec! Gonna check out Nature's Zzz. Zoe, placebo or not, if it tastes good and I sleep, I'll take it haha. But seriously, maybe we need a thread comparing brands with actual user experiences vs. these flashy studies. Anyone else tried different ones?
