Are gummy vitamins just candy in disguise?
Okay, I have to vent. I've been taking those multivitamin gummies for a few weeks now, and I just realized they have like 3-4 grams of sugar per serving! That's basically a small piece of candy. I get that they're supposed to taste good, but this feels like the supplement industry is just jumping on the candy train. I mean, I could just eat a fruit snack and get the same sugar rush. What's the point? Aren't we supposed to be healthy here?
I get where you're coming from, but honestly, if it weren't for the taste, I'd never remember to take my vitamins. I'm a student, I'm broke, and I'm always rushing. Gummies are easy to pop on the go, and they actually don't taste like chalk. Plus, the sugar is per serving, so it's not like I'm eating a whole bag. And hey, some are even low sugar or organic now. Maybe not all, but you can find options. It's a trade-off, but I'll take a little sugar over missing out on essential nutrients.
I used to think the same until I went keto. Now I check every label like a hawk. There are some clean gummy vitamins out there sweetened with stevia or monk fruit, but they're hard to find and often cost more. I've actually switched back to capsules for my multi and only keep gummies for the occasional kids' vitamin. To me, it's about keeping the intent pure. If you're taking a supplement, you should be getting health benefits, not empty calories. But I get it, convenience speaks volumes, especially if you hate swallowing pills.
Good points, but I still think it's a slippery slope. I mean, where do we draw the line? Soon we'll have gummy energy drinks and gummy protein bars. It's like the health food industry is becoming the junk food industry with a 'vitamin' label slapped on. I just wish people would read the labels more. I did find a low-sugar option after digging around, but it's frustrating that it took so much effort. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I don't like feeling like I'm being tricked into eating candy just to get my vitamins.
@IvyIron859 Haha, I see your point. It's all about balance though. If you don't mind a few extra grams of sugar, they're great. But if you're strict, there are options. To each their own, right? I guess we all just need to find what works for us. I'm just glad we have choices. Back in the day, it was only those giant horse pills. I'll take a tasty gummy over that any day!
