THREAD: DIY Multivitamin Gummies - My batch turned into a sticky mess! Help?Started by GreenGreg567

Hey everyone, I tried making my own multivitamin gummies at home to save some cash and control the ingredients. Used gelatin, some fruit juice, and a powdered multivitamin mix I bought online. But they came out super sticky and wouldn't set properly - just a gooey blob! Anyone have a foolproof recipe or tips on ratios? Maybe I used too much liquid? Also, does the type of vitamin powder affect gelling? Thanks!

Honestly, why bother? Store-bought gummies are tested for stability and dosage accuracy. Homemade ones are risky - you might not get even vitamin distribution, and who knows if the heat from melting gelatin destroys the nutrients? Plus, sticky batches often mean wrong gelatin-to-liquid ratio or not enough setting time. But if you insist, maybe try agar instead? Heard it sets firmer. Still skeptical about the whole DIY supplement thing though.

Awesome project, GreenGreg! I've been making my own for months - early adopter here! For sticky issues: use 1 tbsp gelatin per 1/2 cup liquid max, and dissolve the vitamin powder COMPLETELY in warm liquid before adding gelatin. Some powders (like iron) can interfere with gelling. Pro tip: add a tsp of citric acid for tanginess and preservation! My recipe: blueberry juice, gelatin, my custom vitamin blend, and a dash of honey. Sets perfect in silicone molds overnight. Keep experimenting!

Thanks both! Vince, I get the concern, but I'm using a reputable powder and trying to avoid fillers. Rich, that ratio helps - I think I used too much juice. Do you heat the mixture after adding vitamins, or keep it low temp? Also, any mold recommendations? Mine were kinda bland tasting lol.

If you're determined, at least get a kitchen scale for precise measurements. And maybe test a small batch without vitamins first to nail the gelling. But seriously, consider just buying a quality brand - the convenience and safety might be worth the price. No offense to DIYers, but supplements aren't like baking cookies.
