Hey everyone, I'm trying to make my own multivitamin gummies at home because I want to avoid all the artificial stuff in store-bought ones. I used gelatin and a multivitamin powder, but my first batch came out too sticky and they won't hold their shape. I followed a recipe I found online but maybe I did something wrong? Any tips on getting them to set properly? Also, is agar a better option for a vegan version? Thanks!

I've tried making gummies with agar before and they turned out more like jelly than gummies. Gelatin gives that chewy texture but if you're vegan, agar is your best bet. The key is to use enough agar and let it set in the fridge for a few hours. Also, make sure you're not adding too much liquid. What recipe did you use? Maybe the ratios are off.

Dude, I feel your pain. I tried making my own vitamin gummies to save money and ended up with a gloopy mess. Pro tip: bloom your gelatin in cold water first before adding it to the warm mixture. And don't boil it! That kills the gelling power. Also, a little citric acid can help with taste and preservation. But honestly, sometimes it's just easier to buy them. What powder are you using? Some have fillers that mess with the texture.

I'm skeptical about DIY supplements. How do you know you're getting the right dosage of each vitamin? It seems risky. I'd rather stick to regulated products for my kids. But if you're gonna do it, maybe try using a silicone mold and a dropper for consistency. And definitely store them in the fridge to prevent spoilage. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I used a recipe that called for 1/4 cup of gelatin and 1 cup of juice, but I added extra vitamin powder, so maybe that threw off the balance. I'll try blooming the gelatin and using less liquid next time. @SolarSam308, I'll look into agar but I'm worried about the texture. @RhinoRich660, I'm using a generic multivitamin powder from the health store. @DynamicDan259, I appreciate the concern; I'm just experimenting for myself, not for kids. I'll keep you all posted!
