Hey all! I tried making my own multivitamin gummies last night using vegan vitamin powders and agar agar (since I don't do gelatin). Followed a recipe online but they turned out super sticky and never firmed up. Any tips? I used 2 tbsp agar per 1 cup juice. Also added a multivitamin blend – maybe the powder messed with the set?

Agar can be tricky – it needs to be boiled to activate. Did you boil it? Also, some vitamin powders (like zinc or vitamin C) can acidify the mix and break down the agar. Try adding a pinch of baking soda to neutralize. Or use citrus-free juice. Gelatin is terrible, good on you skipping it!

Ugh, I remember my first try – what a mess! I ended up using a pre-made vegan gummy base from Amazon. But back in the day, my grandma used gelatin and it always worked. Maybe try reducing the liquid? 2 tbsp agar to 1 cup liquid sounds low – most recipes call for 1 tbsp per cup. Did you add the powder before or after boiling? Also, store in the fridge not at room temp!

Biohacker here 🤓. One issue: chelated minerals and certain B-vitamins can degrade with heat, so maybe add powders after the liquid cools slightly. Also, agar sets better with a bit of sugar or corn syrup – helps with texture. For perfect absorption, try using liposomal vitamin powders, but they're pricey. Let me know if you need ratios – I've perfected this!
