Just read this study on zinc in gummies - legit or industry bias?
Hey all, came across this study (PMID: 12345678) about zinc absorption from gummy vitamins being significantly lower than from tablets. The researchers claim it's due to the binding agents in gummies. But I noticed the study was partially funded by a big pharma company that makes traditional supplements. What do you think - legit science or biased to push pills over gummies? I've been tracking my zinc levels with home tests and my gummies seem fine, but now I'm wondering.
omg i take those berry-flavored zinc gummies every morning with my meditation routine! they make me feel so balanced βΊοΈ i never thought about absorption... but like, if your body feels good, does it really matter what a study says? sometimes science feels disconnected from actual wellness vibes, you know? maybe try adding a mindfulness moment when you take them to enhance the effect?
Not surprised at all. Gummies are loaded with sugars and artificial junk - our ancestors didn't chew on candy for nutrients. That said, funding bias is real too. Pharma hates anything that isn't a patented pill. I'd look at the raw data if you can find it. Personally, I get my zinc from oysters and red meat. Way better bioavailability and no questionable additives.
Good points both. Mia, I track biomarkers so I need the science to align with feels. Quincy, totally agree on whole foods being ideal - but when traveling, gummies are convenient. The study's conflict of interest section definitely raises flags. Maybe I'll run a n=1 experiment: switch to tablets for a month and compare my bloodwork. Anyone else tried testing this themselves?
lol my only experiment is that i stopped taking them for a week last month and my skin broke out! but maybe that was stress from work π if you do test, share results! also maybe the love we put into taking them matters? like intention-setting? just a thought π
