Is it just me or are we turning supplements into candy?

Seriously, I just picked up some NAC gummies and they have 4g of sugar per serving! 4 grams! I thought I was buying a supplement, not a gummy bear. This whole candy-fication of supplements is getting out of hand. Why can't we just have a pill? I get that gummies are convenient, but at what cost?

Preach! I've been saying this for years. Most of these gummy vitamins are packed with sugar or sugar alcohols, and they often have lower doses than the pill forms. If you're serious about your health, you're better off with capsules or powders. I get it, some people can't swallow pills, but for those who can, it's a no-brainer. Plus, you know exactly what you're getting without the extra junk.

I hear you, but honestly, gummies are the only reason I actually remember to take my supplements. I've tried pills and I just forget or skip them. Plus, they taste like candy, which makes the routine less of a chore. And who cares about 4g of sugar? I drink energy drinks all day, so that's nothing. It's not like I'm eating a whole bag. As long as I get my NAC, I'm good.

I'm with the OP. It's not just the sugar, it's the whole marketing angle. They're targeting kids and people who are gullible enough to think that a candy-like supplement is healthy. And those gummies often have artificial colors and flavors. If you want convenience, there are other options like effervescent tablets or liquid shots that don't have all that sugar. I say, if you can handle a pill, take a pill. Your liver will thank you.

Ivy, I get the convenience factor, but have you checked the actual dose in gummies? Often it's lower than what you need for therapeutic effect. Take NAC for example - studies use around 600-1200mg, but some gummies only have 200mg per serving. If you're taking those, you're probably not getting the benefits you think you are. Just a heads up.
