My toddler thinks NAC gummies are candy - hilarious/terrifying story!
Okay, I need to share this before I have a heart attack. My 4-year-old found my NAC gummies in my purse yesterday and ate THREE before I caught him. He said 'Yummy candy, mommy!' and I nearly fainted. They're the berry-flavored ones, and he loved them. Now I'm terrified he'll go looking for more 'special candy' and I have to hide them like contraband. Anyone else have kids who mistake supplements for treats? How do you keep them safe?
This is exactly why I stick to traditional capsules! No confusion, no mess. Gummies might taste better, but they create unnecessary risks, especially with children around. When my kids were young, I kept all supplements in a locked cabinet - simple and effective. Maybe consider switching to pill form? Safety should come first, not flavor.
OMG, my husband does the SAME THING! He'll sneak my NAC gummies because he says they taste better than his vitamins. But texture-wise, I get it - some brands are too chewy or sticky. Have you tried the new brand 'PureGum'? They have a softer texture that might be less appealing as 'candy' to kids? Still tasty though! Maybe keep them in the fridge so they're firmer?
Thanks both! @VitalVince206 - I hear you on safety, but I struggle with pills myself (gag reflex, ugh). The locked cabinet is a good idea though. @BerryBen - I haven't tried PureGum! The texture thing is real - my kid said they were 'squishy candy' lol. Maybe I'll look for something less appealing texture-wise. Still, the scare was real - I'm just glad NAC is generally safe in small doses!
