My toddler thinks NAC gummies are candy - hilarious/terrifying story!

Okay so this just happened and I'm still laughing (and slightly panicking). My 4-year-old found my bottle of NAC gummies on the kitchen counter while I was on a work Zoom call (digital nomad life means my 'office' is everywhere). He thought they were 'special candy' and ate THREE before I caught him! He said 'Mommy these are the chewiest candies ever!' Thank goodness they're just supplements and not actual medication, but now I have to hide them like contraband. Anyone else have kids or spouses who confuse supplements with treats?

OMG Nancy that's both adorable and scary! I don't have kids but my partner tried my NAC gummies once and said 'these taste like weird, rubbery fruit snacks.' Honestly, the texture IS kinda off - they're too firm and not juicy enough. If they made them with a better mouthfeel (softer, more natural fruit pectin base), maybe they wouldn't be mistaken for candy? Or maybe that's worse? Now I'm wondering if I should switch to capsules...

Haha my gym buddy's wife did something similar with his BCAAs! But re: NAC - I take it for recovery and lung support. Pro tip: get a pill organizer with a child lock or keep them HIGH up. As for texture, I don't mind it - reminds me of stiff gummy bears. But yeah, if your kid's grabbing them, maybe try explaining they're 'mommy's special vitamins, not candy'? Though with a 4-year-old, good luck lol.

Whoa, mindfulness moment here! This reminds me of when I tried to get my niece to meditate with me and she just wanted to eat the raisins I was using as a focus object. Kids live in the present moment... including when they find 'candy.' Maybe turn it into a teaching moment about what goes in our bodies? But also yeah, definitely hide them. Glad your little one is okay!
