NAC gummies taste like candy - isn't that missing the point?
Okay, I just got my first bottle of NAC gummies and they're literally like eating candy?? Like, they're coated in sugar and taste like sour worms. I get that they want to make supplements 'more palatable' but isn't NAC supposed to be about health? Why are we adding sugar to something we take for wellness? Seems counterintuitive.
Honestly, I don't mind a little sugar if it means I'll actually remember to take them. I used to take capsules and would skip them bc the taste was so nasty. Gummies are just more convenient for me. Plus, the sugar amount is tiny compared to what's in a soda or something.
From a chemical perspective, NAC is already a bit unstable. Adding sugar and heat during gummy manufacturing can degrade it. If you're paying for purity, capsules or powder are better. But I get the convenience argument. For me, it's about what you prioritize.
I've been a nurse for 30 years and I've seen patients who take gummy vitamins thinking they're 'healthy' but then they end up eating like 5 a day because they taste good. There's a real risk of overdoing it. Plus, if you have insulin resistance or diabetes, those sugars add up. I'd stick to the plain stuff.
Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. I just wanted something to support my lungs and immune system, not a treat. Maybe I'll switch to capsules. Thanks for the input, everyone!
