Traveling with NAC gummies - do they survive the TSA?
Hey all, I'm about to embark on a 2-week trip that involves flying, hiking, and a road trip. I've been taking NAC gummies daily for a while now and don't want to skip them. But I'm worried about them melting in my bag during the flight or in the car. Also, are these considered supplements? Do I need to declare them at TSA? Any tips for keeping them fresh on the trail? Appreciate any advice!
Can't speak to the NAC thing, but as a vegan I know that gummies can be finicky with heat. I'd suggest storing them in a cool place, maybe a small insulated pouch. For TSA, you should be fine as long as they're in their original packaging and not loose powder. But if they melt, they're probably not vegan-friendly anyway (some have gelatin). Just sayin' 😉. Safe travels!
I've flown with my NAC gummies multiple times. TSA doesn't care about gummies; they're not a liquid. I keep them in my carry-on in the original bottle, and no issues. As for melting, I live in Arizona and my gym bag gets hot, but they never melted. Just avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or a hot car. For hiking, I put a few in a small zip-lock baggie and keep them in my pack's top pocket - never had a problem. Stay consistent with your dose, man!
Intermittent faster here - I take NAC gummies during my eating window, so travel doesn't mess with my routine. But I've learned the hard way that gummies can melt if they're in a checked bag that sits on the tarmac in summer. Always carry them with you, not in the cargo hold. Also, if you're going hiking, try to keep them cool - maybe store them with your water bottle (those insulated ones) or freeze a small gel pack and wrap it with them. They'll be fine. And remember, check the TSA website if you're unsure, but generally supplements are allowed.
I'm not a regular here, but I traveled with NAC gummies from the brand 'PureGummies' and they didn't melt even in my humid backpack during a tropical trip. I think the key is to keep them sealed. Also, for quick access on the trail, I used a tiny pill container that had a clip - clipped it to my belt loop. Easy peasy. TSA is more concerned about liquids, so gummies are a non-issue. Just put them in a clear bag if you want to be extra smooth through security. Have a great trip!
