Trying to make sugar-free omega-3 gummies at home. Used gelatin, fish oil (molecularly distilled), and some powder from bulk supplements. Followed a recipe but they came out super sticky and smelled like a bait shop. Any tips for a firmer texture and less fishy smell?

Stickiness is often due to gelatin not blooming enough. Try blooming in cold water for 10 mins before heating. Also, fish oil can go rancid if heated too high - keep it low! For smell, lemon zest or stevia might help. And check the purity of your fish oil source.

As a med student, i'd add that omega-3s are heat sensitive. Maybe use agar instead of gelatin? It sets firmer but needs boiling. Also, consider using a small amount of vitamin E as a preservative (and it's good for you!).

Ew, fishy gummies? No thanks. Maybe try algal oil instead - it's vegan and less smelly. Also, use silicone molds, easy release. And don't forget to store in the fridge! I use a recipe with agar, lemon juice, and a touch of maple syrup.
