Gummies turned weird - safe to eat?
Hey all! I just opened my latest bottle of Omega-3 gummies and they look different - some are stuck together and have this white powdery stuff on them. They also feel harder than usual. Wondering if they're safe to eat or if I should toss them. Any advice?
Sounds like sugar bloom or maybe moisture got in. Usually it's just cosmetic, but I'd check the expiration date and see if there's any weird smell. If they smell off, don't risk it. I've had gummies get hard before, they were fine just chewier. But I'm not a doctor, so when in doubt, contact the brand.
I've experienced that with my gummies too! Especially if they're stored in a warm place. The sugar crystallizes and they get sticky. I usually still eat them if they're not expired and don't smell funky. But if they're rock hard, maybe put them in a bag with a silica packet to get moisture out? 😅
I'd say better safe than sorry. If they've changed texture significantly, the ingredients might have degraded. Omega-3 can oxidize, so if they smell fishy or rancid, definitely don't eat. I'd contact the company for a refund, they might send a new bottle. And always store in a cool, dry place!
