My Omega-3 gummies turned white and hard – safe to eat?

Hey everyone! I've been taking my omega-3 gummies for a few weeks now, but I noticed they've gotten really hard and have this white coating on them. They used to be soft and translucent, now they're like little rocks. Is this normal? Are they still safe to eat? I'm a bit worried because I don't want to waste them, but also don't want to get sick. Any advice?

Hey Wendy! That sounds like sugar bloom or just the gummies drying out. It happens when the moisture evaporates or they get exposed to air. It's usually just a texture thing, and they're probably still safe to eat, but they might be less effective. I'd check the expiration date and if they're not expired, you can try rehydrating them with a damp paper towel in a sealed container for a few hours. But honestly, if they're hard as rocks, I'd toss them and get a new bottle. Better safe than sorry!

I've had the same issue with my omega-3 gummies. I store them in the fridge now to keep them fresh. The white stuff is just sugar crystallizing, no biggie. But if they're hard, they might not dissolve well, so they might not get fully absorbed. I'd say if they're not past the expiry date, you can eat them, but don't be surprised if they taste a bit off. For me, I'd just buy a new bottle – it's not worth the risk, plus you get better quality if you store them properly.

Thanks guys! I guess I'll just toss them and get new ones. I'll start storing them in the fridge like Uma suggested. Also, I'll check the expiry date next time. I didn't even think about that. Thanks for the help! 😊
