Traveling with Omega-3 gummies: Do they melt?
Hey all, heading out on a road trip this weekend and then a short flight. I take these omega-3 gummies everyday and don't want to miss a dose. But I'm worried about them melting in the car or getting flagged by TSA. Any tips? They're the soft gel kind, not the fruity ones. Should I put them in checked or carry-on?
I travel full-time and always carry my gummies in my carry-on. TSA has never given me trouble with supplements in original bottles. For melting, keep them in a cooler bag or with an ice pack if you're driving. Alternatively, stick them in your hotel fridge overnight. Also, pro tip: put them in a ziplock with a silica gel packet to prevent stickiness.
Been there! Soft gels can definitely melt if left in a hot car. I use a small insulated lunch bag with a reusable ice pack when hiking. For flights, TSA allows solids and gels in reasonable quantities. I've brought a 60-count bottle in my carry-on no problem. Just keep them in the original container to avoid questions. Also, check the gummy texture after travel—if they clump, they're still fine to eat.
Wait, are these really necessary for a short trip? Can't you just skip a few days? I get being consistent but seems like a hassle. Anyway, if you must take them, I'd say carry-on is safer than checked luggage. And maybe toss them in a small pill organizer? Just my two cents.
