Costco's Bulk Gummy Powders: Too Good to Be True or Just a Steal?
So I was at Costco today and saw a huge tub of 'Berry Blast Gummy Powder' for like $20 off the usual price. I'm tempted to stock up, but I'm wondering if the lower price means it's lower quality or if it's just a good deal. Anyone have experience with this brand or buying bulk powders from Costco?
Honest opinion: price cuts are usually just marketing or excess stock. But with Costco, they often squeeze suppliers for lower costs, so you might get the same stuff but they just negotiate a better price. Check the ingredients list for sugar content and artificial junk. If it's clean, it's a steal. I usually grab my gummies there when they have sales and never noticed a difference.
I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to my supplements. I've been using the same powdered brand for years and never buy in bulk because I worry about potency degrading if it sits too long. That said, Costco has their own Kirkland brand sometimes, and those are usually decent. But if it's a random brand, I'd check the expiration date and maybe do a quick taste test. If it tastes off, that's a red flag.
As a mom, I'm always skeptical of deals like that. I mean, why would they slash the price that much? Maybe it's because they're changing the formula or it didn't sell well. I'd rather pay a bit more for peace of mind knowing it's a brand I trust. But if you do try it, please report back! I've been burned by cheap supplements before.
From a biohacker perspective, the price doesn't matter as long as the active ingredients are bioavailable and in the right doses. Sometimes companies cut costs by using cheaper fillers or less effective forms of vitamins. Look for 'magnesium glycinate' not 'oxide', for example. I'd scan the label and if it's clean, go for it. Worst case, you can always return it if it sucks.
