Flying with gummies? Melt-proof travel tips needed!
Hey all, I'm heading out on a 3-week trip (plane, then hiking) and I want to bring my gummy vitamins along. Worried about them melting in my bag and TSA restrictions. Any tips? Do they survive in carry-on?
Been there! I've carried gummies on planes multiple times. They don't melt easily unless you're in extreme heat, but to be safe, wrap the bottle in a plastic bag and maybe keep it in your personal item near you if possible. TSA doesn't care about vitamins, just keep them in original packaging. They're not liquids or gels, so fine. For hiking, if it's hot, try a small insulated pouch or keep them in a cooler if you have one. Also, if they do get soft, just pop them in the fridge/freezer for a while, they'll harden back up.
I'd suggest storing them in a small tin or glass jar to avoid crushing, but make sure they're labeled as vitamins if you're going through customs. For hiking, I'd separate a few days' worth into a little zip lock and keep them in your pocket (body heat is less than direct sun). They can get a bit tacky, but still fine. Also, bring a tiny silica gel packet to absorb moisture if you're in a humid area. Safe travels!
Cheap trick: put the gummies in a thermos or insulated water bottle if you're hiking in hot weather. That keeps them cool for hours. And for flying, I've never had an issue with TSA - they don't even glance at my gummy bottle. Just don't bring any homemade edibles if you know what I mean 😉. But for regular supplements, you're golden.
